Troy Deeney has told Morgan Rogers he ‘has to adjust’ to reclaim his form for Aston Villa.

The 23-year-old was subjected to ironic cheers when he completed a pass to Evann Guessand late in Villa’s Europa League win over Bologna.

That came after Rogers had struggled to make an impact in the attacking third and extended his goalless run to 19 games for club and country.

Speaking on talkSPORT Deeney warned Rogers he can’t rest on having had a strong campaign in 2024/25.

“The problem he had was that he had one good season and everyone said how great he was,” the former Birmingham City captain said.

“The second season is when everyone starts going into games going ‘ right, how do we stop him? ’ and now he has to adjust and he has to go again.”
