LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - A Texas-based company is in trouble for allegedly running deceptive websites that are tricking tourists into buying fake tickets for Mackinac Island attractions.

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel’s office issued a cease and desist notice to MTVRS, LLC earlier this week, telling the company to take down or change the websites.

Nessel’s office says the company will face a lawsuit seeking an injunction and fines under the Michigan Consumer Protection Act if they don’t comply.

The AG’s office says the MTVRS website fortmackinactickets.com “mimics the official website that sells Fort Mackinac tickets , which are sold by a governmental agency responsible for park preservation on mackinacparks.com .”
