DODGEVILLE, Wis. -- A judge set cash bond at $500,000 Friday for the man accused of killing a Dodgeville woman and bringing her body to Nebraska.

Gavin Thompson, 23, is charged with first-degree intentional homicide, burglary while armed with a dangerous weapon, taking and driving a vehicle without consent and hiding a corpse.

A criminal complaint alleges Thompson entered 67-year-old Dorinda Segebrecht's home, stabbed her to death then drove her body to Nebraska in her vehicle.

During a hearing Friday, Thompson told the court that he did not understand the charges against him. His attorney, Michelle Marie Dietrich, raised concerns about his competency to stand trial.
