PERRY COUNTY, Ind. (WEVV) — A Perry County woman has been sentenced following the death of a 9-month-old child, but won't be serving any prison time.

Court records show Regina Reid was sentenced to 9 years suspended to Community Corrections, with the first five years on Electronic Monitoring.

In 2023, Reid was arrested in connection with the death of the young victim.

Reid was originally facing a charge of Neglect Resulting in Death, but that charge was dismissed, and she pleaded guilty to Neglect Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, a Level 3 Felony.

Prosecutors say they argued that the aggravating factors outweighed the mitigating factors and that Reid should be sentenced to the maximum number of years under the plea agreement,
