JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - The search for a missing 3-year-old from Jackson has ended.

Friday afternoon, Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones wrote on social media that 3-year-old Janae McGill had been found dead near where her mother, Shardee McGill, had been found dead earlier on Thursday.

Shardee McGill’s body had been located by authorities in a shallow body of water near Epes, Alabama.

The cause of Janae’s death is unknown, while Shardee’s death has been called “suspicious” by authorities.

Shardee McGill, 33, was last seen on Sunday, along with her daughter.

The pair left their home in Jackson in a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox, which was later found Tuesday in Epes, authorities said.

When the vehicle was recovered, it was not occupied.
