Closing arguments were heard Friday in a Sarnia courtroom as a two-week trial into a $6 million drug bust at the Blue Water Bridge two years ago wrapped up.

Experienced truck driver Emmanuel Dangyimah and trainee Reinhard Owusu-Appiah both pleaded not guilty last week to importing and trafficking-related charges linked to cocaine and opium seized at the Sarnia-area bridge on July 8, 2023.

Superior Court Justice Jason Howie is expected to return with his decision in January.

THE CROWN’S ARGUMENT

Sarah Virani, of the Public Prosecution Service of Canada, went first Friday and said the only issue in the case is whether the pair had knowledge and control of the drugs found in their trailer, or were, at the very least, willfully blind to them.
