LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The co-founder of a Louisville hemp company says the profitable industry is now at odds with the man who was pivotal in creating it, U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.
Cornbread Hemp co-founder Jim Higdon is in the middle of a million-dollar expansion at the Louisville-based company. Cornbread makes hemp-derived CBD and THC products. Sales of oils, gummies and THC infused beverages have increased every year since the company launched in 2019.
“To give you some perspective, we started this year with 53 employees. We are currently on the verge of surpassing 100 employees here at Cornbread Hemp,” Higdon told Spectrum News.
The company has also expanded the amount of hemp it grows in Kentucky.
