ST. LOUIS (WJW) -- A Missouri boy who reportedly seemed OK after a swing set collapsed on top of him, later died this week, according to the St. Louis County Police Department.

Police were called to a home on Larimore Road around 6 p.m. Sunday for reports an 8-year-old boy was sick.

Upon arrival, St. Louis police said they found a boy, identified as Cortez Williams Jr., “who was not responsive.”

In speaking to the family on scene, police said they were told the child was playing in the backyard on a swing set when it broke apart and he had to be dislodged from underneath a crossbar.

Police said they were told Williams “initially appeared to have only minor injuries.”
