Florida Highway Patrol troopers said at least 45 vehicles were involved in various crashes along Interstate 75 on Sept. 26.
Authorities said the wrecks were in the southbound lanes between mile marker 354 (U.S. 27) and mile marker 358 (State Road 326.) Although northbound traffic was not affected, motorists were moving slowly, officials said.
The injuries ranged from minor to serious injuries, and the victims were taken to local hospitals for treatment. There were no fatalities, officials said.
Troopers said the crashes were chain-reaction wrecks. Local law enforcement agencies were called to assist with traffic as motorists were being detoured off the highway onto alternate roadways.
First responders said the first calls about the crashes came in shortly after 2:30 p.m. Ocala Fire Res
