Following Thursday’s downpours in Massachusetts , farmers say they are still struggling, and a weekslong lack of rain up until this week is costing them big money.
State officials are urging some residents to lower their use of water as some municipalities, like Natick, put water restrictions into place and local crops take a hit.

“We’re into our final harvest of things like pumpkins and butternut squash, and we still have some row crops like lettuce and greens and carrots, and beets. They’re not sizing up as well as they would in a year where we had better rainfall,” farmer Ron Smolowitz said.
