ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) - Despite several reports around town, a public relations firm says Meta, the owner of Facebook and Instagram, is not affiliated with a $12 billion proposed data center project near New Carlisle.

“Meta is not affiliated with that project,” said Laura Boyd with Weinstein PR on behalf of Meta in an email sent to WNDU 16 News Now late Friday afternoon.

St. Joseph County Council President Dan Schaetzle suggested in a newsletter Meta was the company behind the proposed $12 billion data center. He later sent out a clarification saying, “possibly.”

Ten days ago, the newly proposed data center got an unfavorable recommendation from the Area Plan Commission.
