MUSCATINE, Iowa (KWQC) - The Muscatine Fire Department will honor the retirement of two of their battalion chiefs next week.
More than half a century of combined experience will walk out the doors of Muscatine Fire Department at the end of September, city leaders said. Battalion Chiefs Joe Timmsen and Ted Hillard are preparing to sign off for the final time, marking the end of long and impactful careers in fire service.
The community is invited to celebrate their service at an open house on Tuesday from noon to 2 p.m. at Fire Station 1, 312 East 5th Street, city leaders said. Also being honored Tuesday is firefighter Lanny Creamer who is retiring after 22-plus years of service with the department.
Combined, Timmsen and Hillard have 50 years of experience.
