The City’s Oldest Barber Shop Will Mark Its Centennial Sept. 27 With 50-Cent Haircuts
Los Angeles’ oldest continuously operating barber shop is preparing to celebrate a milestone that few businesses reach. Oakley’s Barber Shop, a cornerstone of Westwood Village since 1929, will mark its 100th anniversary on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025, with a daylong community celebration featuring throwback prices, special tributes, and historic displays.
Founded in 1925 across from UCLA’s original Vermont Avenue campus, Oakley’s relocated to Westwood Village the same year the UCLA campus opened, quickly becoming a trusted spot for students, professors, and neighborhood residents. To thank generations of loyal customers, Oakley’s will offer retro pricing for haircuts — 50 cents for adults, 40 cents for stu
