SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - A 16-year-old boy has been detained after a 17-year-old boy and a dog were injured in an overnight shooting at a South Bend apartment complex.

It happened around 1:40 a.m. on Striped Maple Court at Maple Lane Apartments.

Police say the 17-year-old boy was taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The dog was reportedly taken to an animal hospital for treatment.

While investigating, police say they found a possible suspect vehicle nearby, which led to a chase. According to police, the chase went through various areas of South Bend and Mishawaka before ending in the area of Dale Avenue and Fox Street in South Bend.
