A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle early Saturday near Lake Phalen in St. Paul.
Authorities responded to a call of an accident with injuries at about 12:45 a.m. Saturday, according to a St. Paul police spokesman. A driver called 911 and said he had struck a pedestrian while traveling westbound on Maryland Avenue crossing Clarence Street.
When officers arrived on scene, the pedestrian was unconscious and not breathing. St. Paul firefighter medics attempted life-saving measures and transported the victim to Regions Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said the driver of the vehicle, an adult male, was cooperative and showed no signs of impairment. He told authorities he did not see the pedestrian and struck him. The investigation of the crash is ongoing, and no ar
