GBI investigating deaths of 2 two men in Screven County

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating two deaths in Screven County.

30-year-olds Leon Tolbert Jr. and Brandon Counts were found dead with gunshot wounds.

According to the GBI, law enforcement got a call around 3:15 a.m Saturday about a car accident on Highway 301 outside Sylvania city limits.

Officials arrived to find both men inside the car.

Tolbert was pronounced dead on the scene, while Counts was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

Georgia State Patrol went to the scene and determined the car was not in an accident, and a handgun was found in the vehicle.

Both men were taken to the GBI crime lab for autopsies.
