PHOENIX — More than two dozen guinea pigs that were stolen from an Arizona rescue organization have been returned, according to officials with the Pima County Sheriff's Department.
One of the guinea pigs died before officials could recover the animals.
The rescue, the Lidtke Small Animal Foundation in Marana, previously told 12News that the 25 guinea pigs that were taken were in poor health.
The night of the burglary, Sept. 23, video showed two teen girls, identified as 14-year-old girls from Phoenix, tampering with a doorbell camera before the guinea pigs were stolen. A door was broken and all of the guinea pigs were gone when employees arrived the next day.
