LADUE — Lydia Brown wanted to get the job done for her older teammates.

The MICDS sophomore scored what proved to be the game-winning goal with 11 minutes, 46 seconds left to send the Rams to a 2-1 win over rival John Burroughs in a Saturday morning showdown of area powerhouses at MICDS’ Thomas Field.

“Last night, I was thinking who I wanted to win the game for, and I picked a player,” Brown said. “I really just stuck to my word. I wanted to do everything I could. I wanted to hustle, I wanted to score, I wanted to support my teammates in every way I could just to make this happen.”

Brown’s effort gave MICDS its first win over its rival in the last seven meetings, dating back to a state semifinal matchup on Oct. 28, 2021.
