LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
Kentucky Derby winner Mystik Dan returned to the winner's circle at Churchill Downs for the fourth time after winning the 12th running of the $500,000 Lukas Classic, the first running of the race since the passing of Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas in June.
The 4-year-old colt chased down Disarm to win the Grade 2 race by three-quarters of a length and did it with substitute rider Francisco Arrieta in the saddle in place of Oaks/Derby winning jockey Brian Hernandez Jr, who rode the winner for trainer Kenny McPeek.
Hernandez, who previously rode Mystik Dan in all but two of his previous starts, returned home earlier this week from University of Louisville Hospital Trauma Center as he continues to recover after a terrifying accident in last Sunday's third race at the
