WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — On Saturday, Chalkfest 2025 took place at the River Common in Wilkes-Barre and featured live performances, face painting, and of course, chalk masterpieces.

The Riverfront Parks Committee has been hosting Chalkfest since 2010.

The environmental group uses the day as a way to teach kids about the Susquehanna River while having a little fun too.

"We consider the parks and Wilkes-Barre along the river our classroom. Well, how do you get somebody in your classroom? You make it fun," said John Maday, Riverfront Parks Committee.

The Riverfront Parks Committee hopes that lessons about the river will stay with the children as they grow up.
