Donald Trump will be meeting with top Democratic leaders after all, according to new reporting.
Trump recently rejected a meeting request by Democratic leaders Sen. Chuck Schumer and Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, saying that “after reviewing the details of the unserious and ridiculous demands being made by the Minority Radical Left Democrats in return for their Votes to keep our thriving Country open, I have decided that no meeting with their Congressional Leaders could possibly be productive."
But now, that meeting is back on, according to Jake Sherman, the founder of Punchbowl News. And the timing is crucial.
"BREAKING NEWS: TRUMP will meet with @SpeakerJohnson, @LeaderJohnThune, @SenSchumer and @RepJeffries MONDAY at the White House," Sherman wrote on social media. "The govt shuts down Tuesday."
The journalist then added, "Trump canceled an earlier meeting with Schumer and Jeffries. Dems are demanding health care provisions get added to the CR. @AndrewDesiderio and me."
