X-Men ’97 is set to return for a season two that’s “very, very dark”, according to voice actor Ross Marquand.

Animated series X-Men ’97 ‘s first season in 2024 gained “phenomenal” reviews on its release for the continuation of iconic 90s animation X-Men: The Animated Series , following the Marvel queer fan-favourite characters as they face new trials and tribulations.

It was renewed for a second (and third) season before season one even premiered, but with the messy departure of gay showrunner and series creator Beau DeMayo, whom Marvel said was fired for ‘egregious’ misconduct , fans have been unsure over the show’s future.
