WAYNE COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) — Shots were fired outside of the Wayne County fair gates on Saturday evening.

On Sept. 27, two groups of individuals from Hinesville were asked to leave the fairgrounds and were escorted out by fair security personnel.

According to Wayne Tourism on social media, a firearm was discharged while both groups were leaving and converged at the Hwy 301 intersection.

The director of Wayne County 911 told WSAV that the incident occurred outside of the fairgrounds and no injuries were reported.

Law enforcement officers were present and responded to the incident. The case is currently under investigation
