SOUTHPORT, N.C. — Gov. Josh Stein will visit Southport on Monday following a mass shooting that officials say was “highly premeditated.” WFMY News 2 will stream his remarks, scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on WFMY+.
The attack happened Saturday night at the American Fish Company, a popular waterfront bar. Police say 40-year-old Nigel Max Edge of Oak Island fired from a small boat into the crowd before taking off toward the Intracoastal Waterway.
Officials said three people were killed and five others injured, including at least one in critical condition. Some victims were out-of-town visitors. About 30 minutes later, the U.S. Coast Guard spotted Edge loading a boat at a public ramp in Oak Island; he was detained and turned over to Southport Police.
Edge faces three counts of first-degree murder
