LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The family of a Campbellsville University student who went missing in Texas this week is remembering him. 21-year-old Peyton Hughes’ body was found in a lake in Texas. He’d traveled to Texas to participate in a fishing tournament when he was reported missing.

Peyton Hughes’ mother, Sara Hughes, says Peyton could always be found fishing whenever he got the opportunity.

“I think it passed down from his father that got killed in Iraq. His dad was a big fisher and hunter man,” said Hughes.

Sara Hughes shares that her life was changed after waking up to missed calls and text messages on Wednesday. She says those missed calls were from the Texas Game Authority and Campbellsville University.

“I made the call and they told me my son was missing,” said Hughes.
