Simon Kobylecki’s second goal of the young Central Canada Hockey League season earned the Pembroke Lumber Kings a 6-5 win on home ice over the Brockville Braves Sunday night. The game, Pembroke’s home opener, was the second of a home-and-home weekend series with the Braves and was played before a crowd of 586 at the Pembroke Memorial Centre (PMC) on Sept. 28.
Pembroke exploded for three goals in the first period, the first unassisted by Adrian Bonspille only 1:45 into the game. A little over a minute later, Ryan McNally tied the contest for the Braves but Felix Tremblay and Nathaniel Mongeau each scored their first goals of the season to restore Pembroke’s lead heading into the second frame.
