A firefighter that was detained by ICE while actively fighting the Bear Gulch fire just a few weeks back has been released after a month of detainment.

Now he was one of two men that were detained by immigration services while fighting a fire in the Olympic National Forest and this got national headlines.

According to Governor Bob Ferguson, community members and legal advocates worked to secure his release.

The governor also shared a statement from the firefighter who said he wants to be able to continue to protect the land the wildlife and people of our country that he loves.
