The Department of Education will bring grants back for some $270 million.

The application process is now open and it’s all aimed at boosting student mental health.

These grants were controversial and canceled last spring according to notices that were published in the Federal Register on Monday.

Now the original funding helped districts train and keep school counselors psychologists and social workers.

The Trump administration said its goal for diversity and hiring conflicted with its priorities.

The new grants are available for support schools and school psychologists along with other entities of school administration but not counselors or social workers.
