CORUNNA, Mich. (WILX) - A man is in police custody after an attempted sexual assault on a hiking trail, Corunna police announced Monday afternoon.

On Sunday, Sept. 28 at 7:11 p.m., Corunna police officers were sent to the James S. Miner hiking trail for reports of an attempted assault.

There, police found an unnamed man had attacked and attempted to sexually assault an unnamed woman.

The woman managed to fight off her attacker, who police arrested in the same area a short time later.

Corunna police were assisted by Michigan State Police, the Shiawassee County Sheriff’s office and Owosso police.
