CLEVELAND, Ohio - A Cuyahoga County judge is weighing whether to isolate jurors for the entirety of the trial of a woman accused of killing a 3-year-old boy.
During a hearing Monday, attorneys for Bionca Ellis argued that the jury should be sequestered to protect it from outside influences, such as media coverage and social media.
Prosecutors argued that sequestering would be a hardship on jurors and would require delaying the trial.
Common Pleas Judge John Russo said he would rule on the matter by the end of Monday, as jury selection is set to begin Wednesday. Opening statements are expected next week.
