As October nears, Harrisburg’s mayoral race is heating up — but not on the debate stage.

City Treasurer Dan Miller, who is challenging Mayor Wanda Williams’ bid for a second term, says Williams is refusing to participate in proposed televised debates. To spotlight the issue, Miller is holding a press conference set for Tuesday titled, “Where’s Wanda?”

“WGAL reached out at least a month ago,” Miller told PennLive on Monday. “(Channels) 21 and 27 also scheduled debate dates. None have been confirmed because she won’t debate me.”

WGAL News Director Kristin Kay confirmed outreach to both campaigns but said no agreement was reached. “We threw out some dates, but nothing was set in stone,” Kay said, declining to name which candidate refused.
