ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The impending threat of a government shutdown is putting programs at Georgia Tech, like the federal contracting work performed by the school, at risk.

If government funding legislation is not passed by Congress and signed by President Donald Trump on Tuesday night, many government offices across the nation will be temporarily shuttered and non-exempt federal employees will be furloughed, which could add to the strain on workers and the nation’s economy.

Tech’s chief financial officer said the university is well-positioned in the short term, but if there is a prolonged shutdown, measures to preserve cash and maintain campus operations will go into effect.
