PROVO, Utah – BYU true freshman QB Bear Bachmeier is improving week after week while leading the No. 23 Cougars to a 4-0 start.

Bachmeier was named Big 12 Freshman of the Week after Brigham Young’s 24-21 road win over the Colorado Buffaloes. It is the second time Bachmeier has earned the weekly award in four games.

The former Stanford Cardinal has completed 61-of-90 passes (67.8 percent) for 697 yards and six touchdowns without an interception.

Bachmeier is second behind only LJ Martin with 163 yards on the ground and has four rushing touchdowns to equal Taysom Hill’s freshman program record.
