SEATTLE, Wash. - The mayor of Seattle and Washington Attorney General hosted a press conference this morning, stating that they plan to protect citizens if the Trump administration decides to deploy the military to Washington.

The press conference came after President Trump deployed the National Guard to Portland, Oregon and authorized the use of "full force."

Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell said he has been in contact with Oregon officials as well.

"We do not need the federal government bringing in armored vehicles, semi-automatic weapons, military personnel to make, quote-unquote, us safer," Harrel said. "[President Trump's] strategy only serves to escalate tensions and breed mistrust."
