WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) - Wakulla County residents will no longer be able to put their recyclables out for curbside pickup.
Waste Pro halted the service on Monday after 14 years.
Residents will now have to take recyclables to the county landfill instead.
The county administrator, David Edwards, said the bulk of Wakulla County residents do not recycle, and it would’ve cost significantly more each month to continue the curbside service.
The county administrator says recycling has declined significantly since 2019, dropping from 725 tons a year to a projected 460 tons this year.
He said Monday’s change comes in the wake of a county commission vote in August.
