A proposed 22-unit, two-storey townhouse development in Welland received the green light from council last week.

Council approved official plan and zoning bylaw amendments for 519 Thorold Rd. , a 0.5-hectare property on the south side of the street. The site is owned by 1001133976 Ontario Inc.

Based in Niagara Falls, the numbered company is owned by Marco Vukovic of Pelham. It was incorporated on Jan. 31 and purchased the property for $1.425 million in February from Homes by Antonio Ltd.

The property is just west of a three-storey apartment complex at Clare Avenue and Thorold Road, and east of the controversial Maple Park Development proposed at 523, 529, 535 and 537 Thorold Rd. It backs onto Maple Park.
