Dr. Phil Smith, a pharmacist at Access Family Pharmacy, says prescription drug prices always fluctuate.

The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation says more than 4,200 drug products increased in price from January 2022 and January 2023. Of these products, 46% were increased at a rate higher than inflation.

President Trump announced that a 100% tariff will begin on Wednesday. However, Smith says not to panic yet.

"So generic drugs are apparently exempted from that, which is most of the drugs we fill. And even certain brands will be exempted as well," Smith says. He believes these tariffs are not going to hit as hard as everyone thinks.
