The Diamondbacks closed out the 2025 season at 80-82, and for the second consecutive season, they’re without a playoff berth. The club dropped its season finale to the San Diego Padres, 12-4. The team was right on pace, in the thick of the NL wild card race down to the final weekend of the season. However, five straight losses tore their playoff hopes. The Diamondbacks were still alive till Friday evening, but the loss to the Padres, paired with the Reds’ win in the same span, made things worse.

As crushing as it is for Arizona, Ken Kendrick’s disappointment at this season surely outweighs it. That level of disappointment often leads to some major reevaluations.
