After a massive second-half collapse that kept the New York Mets out of the playoffs, owner Steve Cohen issued an apology to the team's fans on Monday via social media.
"Mets fans everywhere. I owe you an apology," Cohen posted to X, a day after the Mets lost 4-0 to the Miami Marlins when a victory would have still put them in the playoffs. "You did your part by showing up and supporting the team. We didn't do our part. We will do a post-mortem and figure out the obvious and less obvious reasons why the team didn't perform up to your and my expectations."
