KINGSTON, N.Y. — The Ulster County Board of Elections has been forced to move its planned early voting location from the Marlborough Community Center to the Highland American Legion in the neighboring town of Lloyd after being told by Marlborough officials that the community center was not available for early voting.

The change comes less than a month before early voting begins on Oct. 25 and after the Board of Elections had included the Marlborough site in its filing to the state Board of Elections and publicized the location in its election material.

Democrat Laura Donovan, who is running to unseat Republican Thomas Corcoran in the race for the Ulster County Legislature’s District 11 seat, decried the last-minute change as “un-American.” She said she planned to organize free rides for
