WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) -- A man accused of pointing a gun at Wichita police who were responding to a domestic violence call has pleaded guilty.
The Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office says Jonathan Belt, 44, pleaded guilty on Monday to one count of aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer.
The incident occurred in the 1600 block of North Wood, near 13th and Tyler, around 11:30 p.m. on May 13, 2024.
Sheriff Jeff Easter with the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office stated during a press conference shortly after the shooting that officers initially contacted Belt outside the home and attempted to take him into custody. Belt resisted, ran inside the house, and then pulled a gun from his waistband that he pointed at officers.
