JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. — The Jeffboat site, an abandoned shipyard in Jeffersonville, Ind., received a $20 million grant from the state from Lilly Endowment Inc., inching the historic barge closer to a total transformation.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) announced the approval of the grant Thursday.

The grant brings the total state funding for Jeffboat to $26.5 million. In December 2024, the project received a $6.5 million grant called READI 2.0. READI is short for Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative.

Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore said "this is exactly what this project needs to take off.”
