Rideshare pickup turns violent as passenger pulls knife on driver in Southwest DC

Washington, DC – A rideshare driver narrowly escaped injury after a passenger attempted to stab her with a kitchen knife during a dispute over a ride Saturday morning in Southwest, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

The incident unfolded around 9:45 a.m. on September 27 in the 1100 block of 4th Street, Southwest. Police said the female driver flagged down First District officers and reported that her passenger had brandished a knife and tried to stab her following an argument.

A special police officer intervened and stopped the suspect before the attack escalated further. Responding officers arrived moments later and recovered the knife.
