John Wise Line between Sunset Drive and Rieger Road in Central Elgin is expected to remain closed for several hours, police said.

A pedestrian is dead after a collision with a pick-up truck in Central Elgin, OPP say.

The crash happened about 11:40 a.m. Monday on John Wise Line between Sunset Drive and Rieger Road, south of St. Thomas, Elgin OPP said in a statement.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital and later died of their injuries, OPP Const. Jeff Bowmaster said.

The driver of the pick-up truck was not injured, said Bowmaster.

John Wise Line between Sunset Drive and Rieger Road is expected to remain closed for several hours, police said.
