NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KLTV) - The SFA Lumberjacks are above .500 for the first time this season after Saturday’s Southland Conference opening win over McNeese State 34-17.

Saturday, the ‘Jacks will hit the road to face the pre-season number one team in the Southland, the Incarnate Word Cardinals.

Lumberjack head coach Colby Carthel spoke on the challenges SFA is set to face in San Antonio.

“It’s a tough draw, you know. They’re a great program,” Carthel said. “Won three out of the last four conference titles for a reason and they do a great, great job.”

Carthel credited coach Jim Gush and several other players, dubbing the group “an all-star team.”
