In the USDA Crop Progress Report from Sept. 29, USDA reports 10 percent of Ohio’s corn harvested and 21 percent of Ohio soybeans. Both ahead of the five-year-average, which usually stands at 7 percent for corn and 12 percent for soybeans. Winter wheat is in line with the normal at 11 percent planted.

Moisture has improved slightly, though still extremely dry. Topsoil moisture condition is 26 percent very short, 51 percent short, and 23 percent adequate. Subsoil moisture is noted as 31 percent very short, 43 percent short, and 26 percent adequate, respectively.
