LUFKIN, Texas — Two people, including one minor, have been hospitalized following a crash involving a 16-year-old accused of evading police.

According to Lufkin PD, the two-vehicle wreck occurred in downtown Lufkin around 1 p.m. Monday. Prior to the wreck, Trinity County law enforcement reported a Chevrolet truck as stolen by a 16-year-old near the Lufkin Mall.

Police had identified the truck at the mall and began to follow it, reportedly leading to a chase from the mall north into downtown Lufkin. The truck entered downtown and collided with a Ford Explorer driven by a 40-year-old woman traveling west on Frank Street.

The woman was flown to a Tyler hospital by helicopter, and her condition is unknown at this time. The 16-year-old driver was admitted to a Lufkin hospital and later relea
