Great Smoky Mountains Natl. Park — Tourism in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park has contributed over $2 billion to the local economy, according to a release from the National Park Service.

The release said 12.2 million visitors to GSMNP in 2024 spent more than $2 billion in communities near the park. That spending then had a cumulative benefit to the local economy of more than $2.8 billion, NPS said.

NPS said around 13.3 million visitors stopped by the Great Smoky Mountains in 2023, spending around $2.2 billion in communities around the park.

Overall, fewer people visited the GSMNP in 2024 than in the year before, but more money was spent in the surrounding areas.
