FREMONT, Ohio — A Fremont-based company is celebrating a milestone expansion while also paying tribute to an important figure in its history.

Beck Suppliers has been around for 75 years, and this year the company will open its 25th FriendShip Kitchen in Ohio, which will also be its first in its hometown.

Greg Ehrlich, president of Beck Suppliers, says this particular location is special because it's dedicated to the late Doug Beck.

“This store in Fremont, this is where the family came from. Our corporate office is still in Fremont, which is really important to us. And the idea of FriendShip Kitchen was Doug Beck’s idea,” Ehrlich said.

Beck was the company president for nearly 20 years and is credited with pushing it beyond just fuel and into a restaurant-style model with made-to-order
