LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kentuckians gathered outside Sen. Mitch McConnell's west Broadway office in Louisville's federal courthouse on Monday to protest against those federal budget cuts to Medicaid and SNAP, and to voice their frustrations.

"It's killing us, it's literally killing us, and that's what we're here to say," one protester exclaimed.

A group of around 50 people from across the state, including some representing the national group the Poor People's Campaign, is calling on Congress to reverse the provisions in President Donald Trump's major domestic policy law that change who qualifies for the two massive federal safety net programs.

In a letter addressed to McConnell on Sept. 29, the protesters are urging him to lead the charge on their requests.
